SEO and AI search in Switzerland. One country, three web languages.
Search work in Swiss German, French and Italian for a small, high-value market where buyers expect Swiss spelling, CHF prices and a local presence.
Three language regions, three sets of pages
Most Swiss sites need German and French pages; many need Italian too. Each is written by a Swiss-language linguist.
Prices written the Swiss way: CHF 1’250.- with an apostrophe as the thousands separator.

How buyers in Switzerland phrase it
Real search wording in the local language, the words your pages need, not translated English keywords.
| Phrase | What it means | Intent | Searches / month |

| près de chez moi | near me (French) | Local | [X] |
| vicino a me | near me (Italian) | Local | [X] |
| offerte | “quote” in Swiss German | Compare | [X] |
| gratis lieferung | free delivery | Buy | [X] |
| vergleich | comparison | Compare | [X] |
Where most projects in Switzerland begin
One service usually leads; two more support it.
Swiss data law, not only GDPR
The revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) applies since 1 September 2023, supervised by the FDPIC. If you also sell into the EU, GDPR applies to those visitors too. Consent and analytics are set up for both.
We flag what needs fixing; your lawyer confirms the legal side.
- Privacy notice under the revFADP
- Consent and analytics that work for Swiss and EU visitors
- Identity and contact address on shop pages
- Separate checks per language version

What people in Switzerland ask us
Short answers. The snapshot answers the rest for your site.
- Can we reuse our German pages from Germany?
- Not as they are. Swiss German writing uses “ss” instead of “ß”, CHF prices and local words. Without hreflang de-CH, your German site may compete with your Swiss one.
- Do we need Italian pages?
- Only if Ticino matters to you. Italian-speaking Switzerland is about 8% of the population; for many B2B sites, German and French are enough.
- Does GDPR apply in Switzerland?
- Switzerland has its own law, the revised FADP, in force since September 2023. If you also target the EU, GDPR applies to those visitors.
- Which directories matter?
- local.ch and search.ch feed many local searches. We keep them consistent with your Google Business Profile.
